Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, mold-blown, cut, engraved. (a) Oval, tapered bowl with waisted base; engraved decoration of two rustic scenes on the sides, of a woman playing a mandolin for a man standing at the right, holding a walking staff; on the reverse, a woman seated next to a plinth, offers food to a sheep, while a man, holding a staff stands alongside, buildings in the background; engraved coat of arms at the front, with lions rampant in two quarters, vines growing on poles in the other two, crest of a crowned lion rampant holding a staff; inscribed "Auff Richtig ohne falsch" above; in an oval panel with scrolled frame, with pendant swags and foliate scrolls; cut, polished shell on the reverse, with minutely engraved sheep and trees below; cut raised panels and a shell at the base, above cut panel faceting ending in pointed ovals; stem composed of a diamond-faceted disk and an inverted baluster with cut lenses at the top, above raised panel-swags, and panel cutting, faceted disk at the base of the stem; disk foot with faceted rim and engraved matte triangles; cut ring of ovals on the underside. (b) Domed, oval form with rounded shoulders and inset brim; cut rounded panels at the center; engraved landscape with stylized buildings, sheep, a shepherd, and trees on the shoulder; cut shell at one end; cut ovoid finial matching the stem on (a).
