Physical DescriptionColorless, transparent ruby, gold non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Conical, straight-sided bowl, with cut vertical trellis panels, two heart shaped panels containing an engraved putto holding three hearts on a plate in one, and inscribed "Das freuste/von allen/hat mir ge/fallen" in the other; polished stylized floral motifs in the remaining panels; polished oval facets at the base; merese above a faceted ovoid knop enclosing multiple spiral gold threads encircling a single spiral ruby thread; capstan at the base of the stem; circular, conical foot; rough pontil mark. (b) Domed shape with rounded sides and cut, tapered brim; cut and polished facets and trellis panels, matching those on (a); pointed, faceted finial, enclosing a multiple spiral gold twist encircling two spiral ruby threads; the finial mounted on a disk; rough pontil mark inside the cover.Provenance
