Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. (a) Baluster shape, with six segmental cavities; rim polished flat on top, with six ground openings; neck hexagonal, with rounded corners; trailed rounded collar; sides with a wide band of cut horizontal grooves, above a band of strawberry diamonds, a wide band with oval panels framed with horizontal grooves, ovals finely engraved, with a finely cross-hatched shield with an oval panel at the center; in the oval to the right, an elaborate pedestal with mask at the center, a bird on top, and two flanking dolphins; in the panel to the right, a Chinoiserie pavilion; in the panel to the right, a temple with domed cross- hatched roof, a cupid within; in the panel to the right, a fountain with dolphin spouting water at the sides; below, another band of cut strawberry diamonds; ring of small oval facets at the base; small disk foot, polished concave on the underside, with cut radial grooves at the rim. (b-g) Flat, oval shape, with cut horizontal grooves; tapered, cylindrical, rough- ground shank; (b) with polished tip, (c) with two cut parallel lines on the tip, (d) with four cut parallel lines on the tip; (e) with five cut parallel lines on the tip, (f) with one cut line on the tip, and (g) with rough-ground tip, corresponding to incised lines on the sides of the neck on (a).Provenance
