Physical DescriptionColorless, presumably lead glass, of gray cast; blown and cut. (a) Adams-urn shape: slender deep semi-oviform bowl supported by short pedestal base having cut octagonal stem spreading into octagonal round-edged step on square base with large ground and polished pontil mark; (b) set-in flanged and high domed cover with cut octagonal stemmed-knob; cut decoration: on bowl, narrow band of large low-relief diamonds between narrow band of flutes at top and, at bottom, wide band of flat tapering panels bisected by single horizontal rib; on cover, pattern on bowl repeated in smaller scale, and single row of facets on edge of rim, and, at one side, arched opening for spoon or other serving utensils.Provenance
