Physical DescriptionAlmost colorless glass but with yellowish green tinge; blown (two gathers), applied. Goblet. Rim plain, with rounded lip; wall is straight and tapering, before curving in at bottom, where it meets flange (D. 6.5 cm), which points downward and has rounded edge; stem is short, cylindrical, and solid; foor consists of nearly horizontal flange, with rounded edge; pontil mark is incomplete circle (D. 1.2 cm). Applied decoration on wall and stem. On wall: single register bordered by single horizontal trails at top (1.2 cm below lip) and bottom (6.6 cm below lip, almost completely melted into wall and difficult to see); register has continuous band of zigzag pattern between two horizontal trails at top and at bottom; between them, eight stylized creatures, apparently quadrupeds with long tails and even longer beaks, moving to viewer’s left, each separated from its neighbors by pair of dots, one above other. On stem: zigzag supported at top and bottom by one continuous horizontal trail, but otherwise free-standing.
