Physical DescriptionPossibly Plate Fragment. Colorless glass over semi-translucent turquoise, gold; blown or cast, leaf-gilded and decorated with stylus, cased, cut. Plate(?): fragment has very slightly concave upper surface and concave lower surface. Blue glass has gilded decoration consisting of lion standing on ground line facing viewer's right; behind his head, final letter of inscription (N) and part or preceding letter; above lion, two parallel horizontal lines below broader horizontal line; below ground line, two parallel lines which slant, or curve, down from left to right; ground line and broad line at top of fragment have scratched transverse hatching, and lion has scratched details. Back of blue glass has wheel-cut lines, including two concentric arcs.Provenance
