Physical DescriptionColorless lead glass; blown, engraved. Low, cylindrical bowl, with rounded base; engraved decoration of the crowned Royal British Arms, encircled by a garter inscribed "HONI . SOIT . MAL . PENSE", with a ribbon below inscribed "DIEU / ET MON / DROIT", with sprays of rose, thistle and shamrock, with crowned lion and unicorn supporters; inscribed "E" and "R" at left and right; with four additional coats of arms in pointed shields, two at the left inscribed "CANADA" and "AUSTRALIA" and two at the right inscribed "UNION OF S. AFRICA" and "NEW ZEALAND"; inscribed above "* The * Coronation * of *Her *" and continued on the reverse, " * Majesty Queen Elizabeth II *"; four additional coats of arms on the reverse, the two at the left inscribed "PAKISTAN" and "INDIA" and the two at the right inscribed "CEYLON" and "S. RHODESIA"; and further inscribed between the shields '2, June 1953. / "I declare...that my / whole life shall be / devoted to your service."; two inverted applied, finely ribbed, loop handles, one at either side; rounded disk above a domed and folded foot, with engraved sprays of roses, thistles, shamrocks, and daffodils on the dome; engraved on the underside 'THE "COMMONWEALTH" CUP ROYAL BRIERLEY ENGRAVED BY [script] E. Rowley, 50 MADE, THIS IS NO. 2.'; polished pontil mark.
