Physical DescriptionTransparent light green glass; blown, molded, diamond-engraved. Large, globular bowl open to a large cylindrical stem; bowl diamond-point engraved with a scene of two men carrying a huge bunch of grapes hanging from a pole supported on their shoulders (one identified as "Josua," the other as "Caleb"), with a dog racing ahead of them, inscribed "1643" and "kent u Selven" above the dog, large trees at either end of the scene, with a long inscription "Nota bene/Siet ? desen wyn van passe genomen/ Is menich mensche seer wel becomen,/ Maer alsmen te veel daer van geniet/ Verkeert wyns denckt in pynlych [sic] verdriet:" and "Hi. fe. AEtat. 70" below; swans swim below the scene; trailed milled ring around the base of the bowl; twenty four molded raspberry prunts arranged in four alternating bands on the stem; coil-wound foot; slight kick; rough pontil mark.
