Physical DescriptionYellow translucent, with some gray and orange streaks, cased with colorless under purple transparent; glass; blown, cased, acid-etched, ground. Vase: elongated ovoid. Rim plain, with horizontal top made by grinding low conical foot, solid, with underside ground flat a edge and slightly concave at center, presumably to removed pontil mark. Acid-etched cameo decoration in several shades of purple and colorless, covering most of wall: spray of three stalks or twigs with leaves, buds, and flowers; stalks are ridged vertically and have horizontal "collars" at regular intervals, like bamboo; leaves are laneolate and veined; flowers have four petals and prominent pistils. Bottom of wall and foot are solid purple. Signature in relief in colorless on lower wall, between sides of spray: "Gallé".Provenance
