Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, cut, engraved. Tapered, straight-sided bowl, with rounded bottom; engraved matte border with polished circles alternating with tiny crosses; engraved decoration on the side, with an elaborate scroll-framed crowned oval panel containing a crowned female bust-length portrait, facing sinister; putti flying alongside the panel; angels seated on an apron below, one holding a scepter and resting her hand on a helmet, the other holding a sword and resting her hand on an orb, with fancy scrollwork and shell-fan below; on the reverse, a city view with numerous buildings along a river front, with a rectangular altar bearing the crowned script monogram "EP1" in a radiance and flanked by laurel fronds, with swags below; a female figure seated alongside, holding an oval shield with crowned double-headed eagle, with a sundial, book, caduceus, scales, and other implements and emblems scattered alongside on the ground; the scene framed by scrolls and foliage at either side; cut oval facets, rounded convex and diamond-faceted panels at the base of the bowl; hollow stem composed of a flattened ball knop with linked oval facets at the top, above a panel-faceted inverted baluster, a ball knop with linked oval facets, and a basal swollen knop; flared, circular foot; rough pontil mark.
