Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, enameled, gilt. (a) Tall, tapered, cylindrical form, with spreading, folded foot; enameled and gilt decoration; band of gilding at the top, depicting buildings in a continuous scene of Halle; below, a coat of arms on blue shield, white and blue mantling with two male supporters, each wearing floral wreaths on their heads and on their wrists; dated "17/08" above; on the reverse, a man holding a brilliantly enameled armorial flag (arms of ) wearing a hat with blue and white feathers, and dark purple coat; inscribed above "Den. 21 Junius"; red, blue and yellow bands below, flanking a band of white spirals, and a scalloped white band with pendant flowers below; white foliate border and yellow and red bands at the foot, with radial white dashes to the rim; deep kick underneath with rough pontil mark; faint white painted inscription underneath "e D 045 [?]". (b) Domed form, with drawn bulbous finial; folded rim, tapered brim; enameled white radial lines on the top, with a formal white foliate border and red, yellow and blue stylized flowers at the shoulder; red, blue, yellow and white dash border; white dashes on the rim; white dashes on the drawn finial; applied baluster finial with flared base, the lower part enameled opaque red, with white lines, the top with red, yellow and white dashes; rough pontil mark inside.
