Physical DescriptionTransparent greenish-colorless glass with minute bubbles; blown, wheel-cut, engraved. Fragment from side of deep, perhaps hemispherical, bowl; decorated on exterior with head and shoulders of beardless male, shown in profile facing left; farther towards left and above, oval motif attached by two straight parallel lines to part of another motif, also with two parallel lines; to left of head, two lines of inscription in Greek capitals, retrograde (i.e. meant to be read from interior of bowl): iota, pi, pi, omicron [ /tau, omicron, sigma, lppo[ ]tos, perhaps Hippolytos.Provenance
