Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, with strong tan tint; blown, enameled, gilt; turned metal mounts. Tapered, straight-sided, inverted conical form; gilt band below the rim, flanked by a row of white dots (above) and rows of white and blue dots (below), with spaced blue dots on the gilt; trailed ring below, enameled white, with alternating blue and red dots; the sides decorated with scene of the Baptism of Christ, with John the Baptist standing, wearing a blue robe, at the right; on the reverse, a stylized spray of foliage; trailed foot rim; applied ribbed strap handle on the side, with pincered lower terminal; pewter hinge viced onto the top of the handle, with loosely hinged domed cover, with tuned pointed finial and molded rim; scroll thumb latch with molded head on the front; stamped "R" inside; concave base with rough pontil mark.Provenance
