Physical DescriptionClear bubbly glass with few impurities; slight discoloring at foot; free-blown, enameled and gilded, with incorporated latticinio bands. Spreading infolded pedestal foot applied to straight-sided tapering beaker with pushed-up base having rough pontil mark; vertical, at rim slightly swirling, opaque white latticinio bands alternating with lacy spiral threads on body and foot; multicolored enameled and gilded decoration: on obverse the coat-of-arms of Elector Johann Georg II of Saxony with the initials: "I.G.D.A.H. Z. S.J.C.V.D.C." (Johann Georg der Andere Herzog zu Sachsen, Julich, Cleve und Berg Churfurst) and the date "1662", on the reverse a target with arrow in bull's eye and the inscription: "Haupt Schuesen Zu Dreszden" (shooting tournament at Dresden), flanked by two diagonal stars (gold rubbed off) with volute-and-dots motif, gilded band and two plain and one wavy yellow rings around rim, blue dashes around rim of foot.Provenance
