Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass, yellow stain or wash; blown, prunted, stained or washed, enameled, gilt. (a) Ovoid bowl, with polished rim; gilt band, red line, and a band of white arcs below the rim; enameled elaborate crowned coat of arms with lion supporters; on the reverse, an elaborate floral spray; inscribed in white "JOHANN.ERNST.HERZOG/.ZV.SACHSEN.WEIMAR" and ".1.6./ .6.2." below; four star-like enameled devices between; the bowl mounted on a hollow, cylindrical base, with rounded band, enameled red, with yellow dots; three molded "berry" prunts on the side, and rigaree band trailed at the bottom; mounted on an angular disk with white enamel dots around the rim; ribbed hollow ovoid knop below, with enameled band of flowers and foliage; angular disk with white enamel dots, ribbed gilt hollow stem with slight bulging near the top; and two small angular disks with white dots on the rims at the base of the stem; circular foot with enameled formal band of flowers and foliage, a ring of white dots, red line, and gilt rim; bottom of foot with raised dot in the center; marks of plastic tape on the foot, preserving gilding in two areas. (b) Domed form, with folded rim and tapered brim; enameled band of flowers and foliage on the dome, with gilt band flanked by red enamel lines, and white dots, at the bottom of the dome; radial white dots on the rim; applied finial with gilt ball knop on top; red enamel line below; swelling knop on the stem, with alternating red and white enamel dots, and yellow dots on the spreading base; rough pontil mark inside.
