Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; mold-blown, cut, engraved. (a) Flat- sided, paneled shape; four sides with rounded panels, with concave vertical flutes between; cylindrical neck rim with small pouring spout; ground and polished for a stopper; cylindrical neck with band of engraved scrolls and foliage above a wide section of polished panels; sloping, panel-cut shoulders; applied angular handle covered with finely engraved scrolls, flowers, and foliage; engraved "JlL/M" monogram on a shield at the base of the handle; the polished flat faces on the sides elaborately engraved with masks, animals, and filled with scrollwork; cut horizontal grooves on the vertical flutes, toward the bottom; cut horizontal groove below the panels; bell- shaped foot, with flared rim; engraved scrollwork on the upper edge of the foot; polished ovals on the underside of the foot. (b) Domed stopper with flared, flat rim; panel-cut sides with engraved scrollwork; applied ball finial on short stem with flared base and engraved scrolls; slightly tapered, hollow shank with polished, flat rim; open at the end.
