Physical DescriptionColorless non-lead glass; blown, engraved. Straight-sided, cylindrical form; with engraved crowned mirror monogram "VT", with wreath of engraved stylized flowers and foliage; inscribed "ANNO/1735" above; slightly concave bottom with rough pontil mark; applied loop handle, curled at the lower terminal; domed silver cover hinged to the handle, with silver medal set into the top, the obverse with four human figures, inscribed below "MONENOV:ARG:/VIII.FRAT:/DVC:SAX:" and inscribed around the circumference "ALVERTVS. [orb] D : G : IO : ERNES : [shield with lion] FRIDERICVX. [shield with eagle] WILHELMVS. [shield with grifing]"; on the reverse, four human figures, inscribed below "LINEA.VINA/RIENSIS./16 WA 09" and around the circumference "BERNARD 9 [shield with cockerel] ERNESTVS [shield with rose] FRID : WILHELM. [shield with griffin]"; engraved 10 1/16 L" on the underside of the hinge plate attached to the cover; illegible hall marks on the rim, at either side of the hinge plate; hemispherical thumbpiece, pear-shaped below.
