Physical DescriptionBeaker. Clear heavy glass with double walls and with few minute bubbles; free blown, cut, gilt and enameled. One conical beaker has been put into another conical lower beaker, rim of latter reaching a height 3/4" below rim of inner one whose top part is of slightly bigger diameter than the diameter of outer beaker; both have been glued together at rim of outer beaker which has a flat set-in base. Whole surface is cut in 16 flat panels, inner beaker shows in enamel on its exterior two couples walking from left to right, together with a pair of musicians, one with a violin, the other with a horn; people are colorfully dressed in 16th and 19th century costumes (the light transparent colors are blue, green, violet, brownish-red, golden yellow), road is bordered by green bushes and trees, in background are two greyish hills with castles. Rims of beakers are gilt, a pair of gilt rings on upper part of inner beaker, a wave-like gilt band with scratched lines at bottom of outer beaker, set-in base is ruby red and shows base of inner beaker which is decorated with a gilt wheel-like disk.Provenance
