Physical DescriptionAquamarine glass; mold-blown; applied flat collar, pontil mark. Obverse: large shield containing at top scalloped frame with clasped hands; above and at sides of frame square and compasses surrounded by six small five-pointed stars; on either side of shield olive branch; "UNION" above shield. Reverse: American Eagle, head turned to right, wings raised above and parallel to body; eagle perched on shield with no bars or stars. Thunderbolt (four arrows) and olive branch protrude on either side of lower point of shield. In eagle's beak long narrow ribbons which extend in parallel line over eagle and below eagle through shield; beneath on lower part of flask long plain oval frame pointed at top and bottom. Olive branch protrudes from left side of shield and thunderbolt protrudes from ribbon just right of shield; "H & S" in oval frame. Edges: smooth.
