Physical DescriptionAqua glass; mold-blown; applied collar, pontil mark. Obverse: large shield containing large scalloped frame with clasped hands; vertical ribbing above frame and within shield. Beneath frame square and compasses and three tiny five-pointed stars at either side; directly below square and compasses small oval frame with word "UNION"; above shield thirteen small five-pointed stars; on either side of shield laurel branch. Reverse: American Eagle, head turned to right; wings raised above and parallel with body; eagle rests on plain shield. Thunderbolt (four arrows) and olive branch protrude from lower part of shield just above the point; beneath, letters "A.R.S.". Eagle holds long plain ribbon in its beak, the ribbon extending above and parallel with eagle and through shield below. Edges: fluted.
