Physical DescriptionAmber glass; mold-blown; lip with applied ring, circular depression at center of base. Obverse: Grant, very small profile bust, facing left. Laurel wreath tied with bow knotted ribbon at bottom and enclosing small scrolled medallion which contains the bust. Reverse: American Eagle, head facing right and wings raised about parallel with body. Eagle rests on shield with tiny stars but no bars. Thunderbolt (four arrows) and olive branch protrude from either side of shield just above lower point. In eagle's beak long plain ribbon extending over and parallel with body and through shield beneath. Below near base of flask, oval frame pointed at top and bottom. Inscription: reverse - "UNION" in oval frame. Edges: smooth.Provenance
