Physical DescriptionColorless, presumably lead glass, with gray tinge; blown, cut and engraved. Deep ovoid bowl, blade knop at top of applied stem spreading into circular step-like formation on applied low dome foot with ground and polished pontil mark; cut decoration: on lower bowl, petal-top flat tapering panels, ten panels on stem, and oval facets on foot at rim; engraved decoration on bowl: obverse -- coat of arms within semiwreath of leaf and berry sprays; on reverse --, rope-edged oval medallion with monogram "J E L" in foliated letters, rope bow knot at center bottom of medallion, the center of knot being the hinge of Masonic compass; arched rule crossing ends of compass, and radiant sun within space so formed; semiwreath of slender leaf sprays enclosing Masonic emblems; at top, picot-edged narrow band with alternate star and trio of ovals.
